Boca Java Calls on Americans to Help Deliver Big Pick-Me-Up to Deployed Troops
Family-owned, Colorado based company sets goal of sending 800,000 cups of java through USO2GO program
DENVER, CO. (April 17, 2011) - Boca Java™ is calling on coffee drinkers to help send a taste of home to our service men and women around the world, through the USO's USO2GO program. Until the end of the year, for every troop coffee bag donation purchased at www.bocajava.com, Boca Java™ will donate one additional bag to USO2GO which delivers the USO's most popular items and services to troops in restricted or remote areas. One bag of donated Boca Java™ coffee amounts to 50 "cups of joe" for troops. To reach its goal of serving up 800,000 cups, the coffee company will need to contribute 16,000 bags to USO2GO.
"Receiving a touch of home, that favorite snack, movie, or a hot cup of coffee means so much to our troops who are deployed, sometimes spending months away from the people they love most," said USO SVP and Chief Development Officer Kelli Seely. "The USO is proud to work with Boca Java on an effort that shows our troops we are thinking of them and we're grateful for the sacrifices they make on our behalf."
Long before becoming an official supporter of the USO, Boca Java™ had already been supporting the USO's mission of lifting the spirits of troops and their families. In 2003, after receiving a coffee donation request from a troop in Iraq, Boca Java™ began sending shipments of fresh roasted coffee to U.S. Troops stationed around the world.
In 2005, the company launched Operation Million Cup and asked its customers to help send 1 million cups of coffee to troops. Boca Java™ achieved two milestones in 2011: Surpassing 7.5 Million Cups donated to the troops and forging a new partnership with the USO.
"We're at a point where we're pinching ourselves to see if this is all just a dream. Our customers have risen to the occasion of helping us support the troops to such an unimaginable extent that it really does seem like a dream," said Boca Java founders and brothers, Jason and Douglass Barrow. "With their help, we have been able to donate over 7 million cups of coffee to our soldiers stationed around the world."
More than 400 million cups of coffee are consumed across America everyday. Recognizing the significance great coffee plays in the hearts and stomachs of most American adults, in addition to coffee donations to troops, Boca Java has also developed a special coffee blend with America's military heroes in mind called "Brew of Bravery".
